Ooops!

Good Morning!

I forgot that I had promised my friend Lisa that I would make squares for her family members who had breast cancer. I got them finished just in time to pop all of the in the mail ON TIME! Woo hoo! Thank goodness for the Leap Day! HA!
Here are the 3 I did for her. Her Mom, Grandmother and Aunt all had breast cancer, so it was very fitting that they be included as well! I wanted them to be related, but different, so I used butterflies and silk ribbon embroidery to tie them together.

And here is a picture of all 7 of my squares:

I am so thankful to have been a part of this project, and I can't wait to see the finished doll! To see more of the squares that other folks have made, visit the "Girl Gone Thread Wild" link on the right of my blog!

Have a wonderful Leap Day!

Pink Artist Square, In Honor of My Aunt

I finished my last 2" square for the Pink Artist Project. This one is in memory of my Aunt who had breast cancer.

She had a Pug for many years, and that pup was just her sweet little baby, so I cross stitched a Pug face to put in the center of it. She also loved pearls and cameos, so I had to include some of those. I don't have too many memories of her, she died when I was pretty young, but I do remember that she had a gizmo that made ribbon roses, and she made everyone a rose tree for Christmas one year. I just love them, they are so pretty! So, I included some silk ribbon roses to represent that. I stitched her name on there as well.

Okay, I'm still recovering from my car having a mind of it's own, so I'm headed to bed!

I hope everyone has a great day!

T'was 10 Months Before Christmas

Well, here it is! It's finally home! YAY! I was ready to send out an APB for this little sucker! HA!

Thank you to JK, Lesa and Lori for working so hard to find my little lost block and getting it home to me!

Also, thanks to all of the ladies who worked on it! It looks great!

Have a super Tuesday!

What a day....

Yesterday did not go very well for me, and I may be MIA for a few days while I recover....

It started off bad, the roads were in decent shape for the most part, until I got towards the end of my route. Then it happened. I have been driving for over 10 years now, and I mean driving, lots. I have NEVER lost complete control of any car, until yesterday. I was coming up to a T-road and I hit a patch of ice. I slid completely through the intersection and off into the field. In the mean time, I jumped a ditch with all 4 wheels off of the ground. Thank God the field was frozen of they would have had to bring a backhoe out to find me! I drove on through the field and came out a little ways on down the road. Naturally, this scared the holy crap out of me, as it was a feeling that I had never experienced before! I actually had to pull over and calm myself down! I didn't tear up the car, (for once), but it did a job on me. My back is very sore, my neck hurts and I have a bump on my head and bruises on my legs from the steering wheel. I'm sure that I'll be fine, but I'm just not feeling to swift today. I saw tonight where I went off of the road, and I am totally amazed. I went between 2 signs and a telephone pole. Scary.

Then, just as I finished telling my Hubs about it tonight, (as we were driving to the farm to take care of Cherokee), the car died. It just died. So, being the good mechanic that he is, he hopped out in a raging snowstorm and popped the hood to find out that we weren't getting any spark. (And thank you, but that has NOTHING to do with what I did, LOL!) So we called my Mom and she ran us to the parts store to get the part the he needed to fix it. Thankfully, he thought to get a second part that could have been wrong, because we were getting ready to leave the farm and it died again! So he got out again and replaced the second part. So far it has been running ever since, but who knows what will happen tomorrow!

I'll try to check in as often as my back will allow me to, sitting in the chair isn't the most comfy for me right now.

I hope everyone has a safe and super weekend! I'm going to bed and try to sleep now! Ha!

Private Heart Swap

Hi all!

Just got a phone call from Ing, and she reminded me that I hadn't posted a pic of the heart that she and I are privately swapping. I swear, I'd lose my head if it wasn't attached....so here it is!

I have a heart of hers, and I'm embellishing it, she has mine and she's embellishing it. We're then gonna swap back so that we have our own heart. It makes it nice to do it that way, because I do a lot of swaps where I make things from my fabrics, and I never get to see them again, but this one is coming back to me! YAY! Now, what to do with it when it comes home......

Now, if I can find the camera, I'll take a pic of Ing's block.

Hugs,

Christy

Spring Block Update II

Good afternoon!
I finally got my Season to Season Spring block half finished and in the mail. I could have finished this one, really easily, but alas, I could only do half. Maybe my partner, Rebecca, will be able to read my mind and finish it the way I wanted to. Doubt it, but hey, one never knows! So anyway, here's the pics!
Here's the whole block:

A closeup of the butterfly:
And a closeup on the ducks playing in a puddle:
I haven't gotten anything else finished, life keeps getting in the way as usual. I'm working on my food fight blocks too, so be looking for pics of those in the coming days.
We found out what was wrong with my car finally....I'm glad I married a mechanic! I have a bent valve in one of my heads, so it's off to the machine shop for them! Let's pray that he can get it all done by the end of the week, as sharing a car with him is killing me slowly! HA!
Have a super Sunday!

A Couple More For Ya

Good Morning!

Have you ever come to the realization that you should be doing something other than what you are doing? I have. Last night as I was finishing up these ATCs, I realized that my Spring block is due in the mail Thursday. CRUD! Anyhoo...I finished 2 more ATCs and another Pink Artist Square! YAY ME! LOL.....

Today will be the day for my Spring block, look for new pictures tomorrow!
Other than that, it's cold, cold, and more cold here in Indiana today....and snowy. Not nearly as much as they predicted, but enough to make everything pretty! They SAY we have another storm coming this weekend, but to be honest, I'll believe it when I see it. For some reason the weather men around here just can't seem to get it right this winter.....
Have a super Tuesday!

Food Fight!

Happy Sunday to all!

I've joined in another swap over at CQN, this one is a Food Fight! Sounds great doesn't it??? And we even get to throw our food! HA! Poor Janet, she's gonna be covered with everything under the sun when this one is over, but it is a great idea!

So, I've come up with 2 recipes to put onto fabric, the first is my Strawberry Daiquiri recipe. It's yummy with or without the rum, so it's an all around good drink!

And then I decided to do my Corn and Mac recipe as well. This recipe is so good for carry-in dinners and cook-outs. My family actually expects it for cook-outs now. Too funny!
I seem to have made the commitment to sew myself silly this winter since I have time, which was a rare thing all last year. I'm now in 4 swaps, plus a private swap, and loving every minute of it! I almost forgot how much I love CQing last year when I didn't get to do it as much.

So, I have plenty to do, now, I'm gonna go do it!

Have a great Sunday!

Fairy ATC and 2nd Pink Artist Square

I have been trying to keep myself awake at night in order to get out of here and get back before Hubs has to leave for work, so I have been diligently working on ATC's and Pink Artist Squares. I have finished one more of each, and I have several more of each in the works. First is my Fairy ATC. I just love this fabric, I bought it to make a wallhanging for my niece's 1st birthday, thought I'd never find a use for it again, and POOF! What a great ATC it made!

I used eyelash yarn to do her skirt and sleeve cuffs, outlined her wings and crown in DMC light effects thread, and outlined her wand. I also used some flowers that I have had for ages to make a seam, and I even used a new stitch that I taught myself this week! That cast-on stitch was used to make the butterflies. I really like the way they look!

Next is my second Pink Artist Square.

I love the rose fabric! I also used the cast-on stitch on this one with a double row of twisted barred chains. It turned out pretty good!

Let me tell you, it is hell sharing a car with my husband. I know, a lot of people do it. It's just that our "shifts" overlap so to speak, and it is hard for me to get home in time for him to get to work without being late. My car jumped time, which in turn has had him busy most of the week trying to get the new timing chain on it. I love my car, but these newer cars are so hard to work on. And I know! My 1965 Mustang is so simple that a blind turkey could fix it. My daily driver? Not gonna happen! I swear, you need a PhD just to read the owner's manual for that thing. And it's a 1990. Not THAT new. I could't even imagine what the really new cars look like under the hood! Oh well, I'm praying that he'll have mine back on the road tonight, in fact, I think I may have threatened him that he BETTER have it back on the road tonight. It's kind of funny, for us, driving a different car is like wearing a pair of shoes that are 2 sizes to small. I'm so uncomfortable in his car, and it is a little slower than mine too. Not that I'm a speed demon or anything, but when I am used to a certain way of driving, adapting to something else is near impossible for me!

Have a great Friday!

My Winter Block Is Home!

It's here! My winter block is here! I just LOVE what Ira thought of to put on my block, she did such an awesome job! It turned out so cute, I can't wait to finish up the other 2 seasons in this swap so that I can make something from the blocks!

Thanks to Ira for all of her hard work on my block, I hope you like what I did to yours!

Also, thanks to Gerry for organizing and hosting a great swap! Job well done!

Happy Friday all,
Christy

The Invasion of the Seed Snatchers

Hi all!

Sunday morning was an eventful morning in my backyard. I was invaded by the seed snatchers! 9 squirrels! I love the little fuzzy tails though, and wouldn't trade them for the world! They crack me up when they play all over the yard, and they were definately having a great time out there Sunday! I spent the better part of 2 hours sitting in the window watching them and taking pics of them. Of course, I can only catch pictures of them when they are eating for the most part, they are just to darn quick for me when they are running around out there! So here goes!

Same squirrel in the middle...different squirrel in the bottom of the picture.
One of the gray squirrels at the bottom is the one from the middle of the yard.

Along with the squirrels, I had a pair of Downy Woodpeckers, Nuthatches, Cardinals, Mourning Doves, Blue Jays and Sparrows. Obviously, I didn't get any pics of the birds, I was too busy trying to take pictures of the squirrels!

Hope you enjoyed seeing my Seed Snatchers!

Now WHERE did I put that???

Hello again! I have finished cleaning out and organizing my sewing room. This was a battle for me! I can not believe how much stuff I have accumulated for my crafts in the past 2 years!!! And it has officially happened, I have put things up so well that I can't find anything! CRAP! It's okay, I'll find what I'm looking for eventually.....

So here's the finished room. No before pics to share....the camera ate them! (Or at least that's my story and I'm sticking to it, it's definately not because I'm so embarrassed by the way it looks!! ;p )

Here's the inside of the double door white cabinet. All fat quarters!
And the inside of the large double door cabinet. These are "normal" cuts of fabric. Some I've bought, some were given to me.

And for those of you who think that this looks cluttered...just image what it looked like before. I mean after all, it did take me a full week to get it done!
Have a great Monday!

Spring Update and Pink Artist Square

Good Morning!

I've been working on various projects, along with trying to clean out and organize my sewing room. Here's what I have done on my Spring block so far:

I'm waiting on a couple things that I sent away for to put on my block, so hopefully it will arrive in the next couple days. If not, I suppose I'll just have to finish it up without it.

Also, I have decided to join in on a project that I heard about through Gerry's blog. It's called the Pink Artists. To read more about it, go here:
http://girl-gone-thread-wild.blogspot.com/2008/01/2x2-art-squares-visions-of-pink.html

So, here's a square that I finished up last night.

These are 2" x 2" squares, and I never dreamed that I could do so much with 2"! It is nothing compared to some of the others I saw on Monica's blog, but I think that it turned out quite pretty! I hope to make a couple more to send, we'll see what happens.

Have a super day!
